9 Air Handling The QSK38 Tier 4 Final engine is only available in a Single Stage turbocharged configuration

10 Exhaust Outlet Connections
New for Tier 4, exhaust outlet connections will be offered as RC (engine-out) or XS (system-out) options Tier 2 XS options have changed to RC options on Tier 4 due to new material requirements RC options must be constructed from stainless steel material Reference the OEM Design Guide on GCE for more information on material requirements Tier 4 XS options will now consist of flange connections kits for the SCR outlet (system-out)

11 Air Intake The OEM is required to mount a Compressor Inlet Temperature sensor (CIT) in the air intake plumbing prior to the turbo compressor inlet New for Tier 4 Final Similar to Tier 2, air cleaner options are not offered for the QSK38 Tier 4 Final engine

12 Aftertreatment Coolant Supply and Return Connection Points
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank and supply module both require warmed engine jacket water coolant flow to thaw frozen DEF in cold ambient conditions NOTE: Customers will no longer be able to utilize both water manifold ports for cabin heater coolant supply. One port MUST be used for DEF coolant supply *Use AEB 24.58, “HHP Tier 4 Final Mobile Off-Hwy and Rail Aftertreatment Installation Requirements for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)” for aftertreatment coolant supply requirements **QSK50 shown for illustration purposes only. QSK38 T4F supply and return ports will be in similar locations on-engine

13 Water Inlet and Outlet Connections
Water inlet connections (WI options) remain the same for Tier 4 Final A new water inlet option is being developed which will include an additional coolant port at the water pump inlet for the DEF coolant circuit return flow

14 Fuel System A new high pressure MCRS fuel system has been developed for the QSK38 Tier 4 Final engine Tier 4 Final engines require the use of Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuel *Reference Fuel Service Bulletin for further guidelines on appropriate fuels. Reference AEB “Fuel System Modular Common Rail System (MCRS) Application Guidelines” for more details on the fuel system Cummins Confidential - Restricted

Stage 1 Fuel Filtration New Stage 1 fuel filtration with NanoNet filtration media will be used for Tier 4 Final. Space claim has changed as compared to current Stage 1 fuel filtration. Refer to CEAF for details on both the Tall Industrial Pro & Dual Tall Industrial Pro units Triple Industrial Pro (Obsolete design) Tall Industrial Pro (Standard for Tier 2/3/4 QSK38 MCRS) Cummins Confidential - Restricted

16 Stage 2 Fuel Filtration The stage 2 filtration uses new filters with NanoNet™ filtration media Due to improved filtration capability as well as an increase in filtration surface area, the Stage 2 fuel filter has changed from 3 canisters on Tier 2 to only 2 canisters on Tier 4 Final On and off-engine options are available for the Stage 2 filter head 500 hour filtration intervals are targeted. 17 Fuel Coolers As a result of the increased rail pressure on Tier 4 Final engines, the heat rejection to fuel is approximately 2.5 times greater than on Tier 2 MCRS engines Engines operating with a high load factor and small fuel tanks will likely require a fuel cooler with the increased heat rejection This includes applications such as drills, and excavators The heat rejection to fuel and maximum fuel inlet temperature requirements can be found on the fuel rating and base engine datasheets Note: QSK38 T4F datasheets are not currently available on GCE Cummins Confidential - Restricted

18 Fuel System Connections
Fuel inlet and drain connection options are the same as previous MCRS engines Restriction measurement ports are included on the connection blocks Cummins Confidential - Restricted

19 Lubrication System The QSK38 Tier 4 Final offers two lubricating oil filtration systems: Consists of 3 spin-on Fleetguard® oil filters An oil sampling port will be offered on all lube filter heads for Tier 4 Final. Mounting locations are similar to Tier 2 (left or right bank) Utilizes the Eliminator™ Full-Flow/Centrifuge Bypass (Self-Cleaning) Filtration System Eliminator mounting location is same as Tier 2 (right bank) ***Oil Sampling Port *Reference service bulletin , “Cummins Engine Oil and Oil Analysis Recommendations”, is available on QSOL and contains recommendations and guidelines on the proper oils for Cummins engines **All Tier 4 engines require the use of engine oils that meet American Petroleum Institute (API) CJ-4 standards. 20 Pre-lubrication Prelube continues to be required for Tier 4 Final
The QSK38 Tier 4 Final engine utilizes the same prelube pump as Tier 2 Mounting locations are similar to Tier 2 Customer supplied prelube options continue to be offered but require chief engineer approval *Reference AEB 44.02, “Prelub™ (Prelubrication Device) for QST30, K38/K50, QSK38/50 and QSK45/60/78 Engines”.

22 Electronic System New connections have been added for aftertreatment. *Connector location is shown below. *QSK50 T4F connections shown above. QSK38 T4F OEM connections will be very similar.

23 Alternator The Tier 4 Final QSK38 engine is available with several different alternators (EE options). Many applications will require larger alternators for Tier 4 Final because of the additional power draw required for the aftertreatment system Alternator options are likely to match Tier 2 offerings EE option scope is still TBD Additional information on aftertreatment power draw can be found in AEB 24.58, “HHP Tier 4 Mobile Off-Hwy and Rail Aftertreatment Installation Requirements for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)” Cummins Confidential - Restricted
