Presentation on theme: "OUR EYES ARE THE ORGAN OF SIGHT"— Presentation transcript:

1 OUR EYES ARE THE ORGAN OF SIGHT
WE CAN SEE DIFFERENT SHAPES, SIZES AND COLOURS

2 OUR EARS ARE THE ORGAN OF HEARING
WE CAN HEAR SOUNDS THAT ARE LOUD AND SOUNDS THAT ARE QUIET

3 OUR NOSE IS THE ORGAN OF SMELL
WE CAN IDENTIFY GOOD AND BAD SMELLS

4 OUR TONGUE IS THE ORGAN OF TASTE
WE CAN IDENTIFY DIFFERENT TASTES: SWEET, SALTY, BITTER AND SOUR

5 OUR SKIN IS THE ORGAN OF TOUCH
WE CAN FEEL THINGS THAT ARE HOT OR COLD, SOFT OR HARD AND ROUGH OR SMOOTH

6 Our eyes are the organs of sight
OUR EYES : THE SIGHT Our eyes are the organs of sight

7 OUR EYES : THE SIGHT ●Ours eyes are very delicate and are protected by our eyebrows, eyelashes and eyelids

8 OUR EYES : THE SIGHT The iris is a big coloured circle at the front of the eye The pupil is a black circle in the middle of the iris The retina is the part at the back of the eye iris

9 OUR EYES: THE SIGHT IRIS RETINA PUPIL

10 HOW CAN WE SEE? ①Light enters the eye trough the pupil ②An image is made on the retina ③ The retina sends this information to our brain, and this is what we see.

11 HOW CAN WE SEE? ❸The retina sends this information to our brain, and this is what we see ❶Light enters the eye trough the pupil ❷An image is made on the retina

12 THE EARS : THE HEARING Our ears are the organs of hearing
Our ears have three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear The outer part is the visible part. In the middle ear there is the eardrum and there are three small bones. The cochlea is in the inner ear.

13 THE EARS : THE HEARING cochlea cochlea

14 HOW CAN WE HEAR? ①Sounds waves enter through the outer ear
②The waves hit the eardrum and make it vibrate ③The vibrations make the liquid in the cochlea move and send signals to the brain ④The brain read the signals and tell us what we hear

15 HOW CAN WE HEAR?

16 THE NOSE : THE SMELL Our nose is the organ we use to smell
We can identify good or bad smells

17 HOW CAN WE SMELL? ① Air enters the nose trough two holes called nostrils ② This air goes to the olfactory nerve ③ The olfactory nerve detectes smells and sends the information to our brain.

18 HOW CAN WE SMELL?

19 THE TONGUE: THE TASTE Our tongue is covered in many taste buds
● Our tongue is the organ of taste Our tongue is covered in many taste buds We can identify four different tastes: sweet, salty, bitter and sour

20 HOW CAN WE TASTE? ①Taste buds identify different tastes
②Nerves send information about the different tastes to the brain

21 HOW CAN WE TASTE?

22 THE SKIN: THE TOUCH Our skin is the organ of touch
Our body is covered in skin The skin in our fingertips is very sensitive Our skin can tell us if something feels soft or hard, hot or cold, rough or smooth.

23 HOW CAN WE FEEL? ①We feel something with our skin ②Nerves send this information to our brain.

24 THE NERVOUS SYSTEM The nervous system controls everything
The most important part is the brain The brain is an organ inside our skull The brain sends information through nerves to different parts of our body The brain also receives information from our five senses We have nerves all over our body
