A large gland behind the stomach.

The small sac-shaped organ beneath the liver.

The duct that conveys bile from the liver.

A slimy substance that is in your nose and sometimes in your throat.

Digestion is the mechanical and chemical breaking down of food into smaller components.

16. Mechanical Digestion
The breaking down of food normally using the teeth.

17. Salivary Amylase
Amylase is present in human saliva, where it begins the chemical process.

Any of numerous minute projections set closely together on a surface.

19. Gastric Juices
A thin, clear, virtually colorless fluid secreted by the stomach glands.

20. Duodenum
The first part of the small intestine.

21. Chyme
The acidic fluid that passes from the stomach to the small intestine.
