4. PURPOSE OF VISIT
Encouraging non-member States in the East Asia region to join the IHO & EAHC
Further enhance the technical cooperation in the region
Part of the 2016 Capacity Building Work Program (CBWP)

Official Languages: Portuguese and Tétum (national language) Apart from these there are another 15 local dialects
Working Languages: English and Bahasa Indonesia

Main Port: Port of Dili

7. GENERAL ASSESSMENT
RDTL has not yet establish their Hydrographic Office
Naval Component of Timor Leste Defence Force has act as the RDTL Hydrographic Authority
RDTL interested to join IHO & EAHC but need to form up a proper Hydrographic Office
No competent Hydrographic Surveyors and Cartographers
Need help from EAHC to guide them

8. STATUS OF HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYING
No information about official hydrographic survey by any RDTL government agencies
Most of Hydrographic Survey was done by Indonesian Private Company – President of Dili Port (No further information)
RDTL has not published any nautical chart
Covered by 10 Indonesian charts & 8 Australian charts with various scale

9. RECOMMENDATIONS
RDTL and Port of Dili invited in future EAHC and IHO meetings
RDTL be invited in some of capacity building programs to strengthen their capacities in the fields of hydrographic surveying, nautical charting, marine cartography and other relevant training programs
Continue providing assistance and guidance in the preparation of the requirements of becoming a full member State of the IHO and EAHC
