Success in difficult courses is the surest sign of your preparedness for college.
2.  Develop College-Level Academic Skills
AP classes require the type of high-level calculating and critical thinking that you'll encounter in your first year of college. If you can write essays and solve problems successfully for an AP class, you've mastered many of the skills that will lead to success in college.
3.  Save Money
If you take enough Advanced Placement classes, you can potentially graduate from college a semester or even a year early.

4. WHY AP? 4. Choose a Major Sooner
Each course provides an in-depth introduction to a specific subject area. Also, a high score on an AP exam often fulfills a general ed requirement leaving more room in your schedule to explore different fields early.
5.  Take More Elective Classes in College
Not only do AP classes help you zero in on a major sooner, but they also free up your schedule so you can take more elective classes. If you want to take that interesting class on glass blowing it will be much easier to fit it in your schedule.
6.  Add a Minor or Second Major More Easily
AP credits can make it more feasible to add a minor (or two) or a second major. With a standard work load and no AP credits, you might find it impossible to complete the requirements for two majors in four years.

10. Summer Project MOST AP courses require a summer project.
DO IT…This is NOT optional 
This project will follow normal “Late Work” guidelines
Some classes will NOT allow summer projects to be turned in late
Some summer projects are available outside in the lobby at the tables!

11. AP Ambassador Program What? Why?
Be part of a group of students who will work with teachers to promote and lead the Rich South AP Program
Promote AP through classroom visits, visits to the feeder schools, special workshops and conferences
additional exciting opportunities.
We want our school to be the best, and a strong AP Program gives our school extra advantages and opportunities. You can be part of a team that will promote our school and our education. We have awesome students at this school, and we should show it off! This would also be great for your college applications!

13. AP TEST
It is the expectation of the AP Program that any student taking an AP class is going to take the AP Exam in May
Cost: $93 (Only $20 due to district paying the rest!!!)
When: 1st 2 weeks in May

ALL ILLINOIS schools will accept a 3, 4, or 5 for credit!!!
