3 TINTS and SHADES Tint is the mixture of color and white to increase lightness. Shade is the mixture of color and black to decrease lightness.

4 Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with danger, anger, power, determination as well as passion and love. Red is an intense color that stimulates the heart. Red can cause you to feel hunger. RED

5 LIGHT RED represents sensitivity and love.
The lighter the color, the more gentle and/or positive the characteristic symbolized. Likewise, darker tends to be stronger and/or negative. LIGHT RED represents sensitivity and love. PINK signifies friendship. DARK RED is associated with rage, anger, leadership, courage.

This is the reason actors wait in “green rooms” before appearing on television. Green can improve vision and is easy on the eye. Humans see more shades of green than any other color.

Black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal and prestigious color. (example: a black tie event) Black is also a color associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). It can have a negative connotation (blacklist, black death).
