3 Percent proportion One ratio (fraction) compares part of a quantity to the whole quantity. The other ratio is the equivalent percent written as a fraction (denominator = 100). 4 out of 5 is 80% Part 4 = 80 Percent Whole out of 100

What percent of 5 is 4? 4 = n Find the part What number is 80% of 5? p = 80 Find the whole (the # following ‘of’) 4 is 80% of what number? 4 = 80 W 100

7 Logical How many students are wearing blue shirts?
How many students are in the class? What percent of the class is wearing blue? Now…make up your our percent proportion. Use any data from our class that you can gather.

8 Zoo If 200 of the 550 reptiles in a zoo are on display, what percent of the reptiles are on display? Round to the nearest whole number.

9 Pies Miss Murphy ate 15% of the pies at Thanksgiving dinner. If she ate 3 pies, how many pies were there? Now using the same proportion, create your own problem involving a percent.
