3 Exponential Growth The size of each generation of offspring will be larger than the one before it The larger the population gets, the faster it grows

5 Logistic Growth Is when a population’s growth slows and then stops, after a period of exponential growth Growth stops when birthrate = death rate and immigration = emigration

7 Carrying Capacity Is the maximum number of individuals of a particular species that a particular environment can support

8 Limits A limiting factor controls the growth of a population
Examples – competition, predation, parasitism, disease, unusual weather, natural disaster These determine carrying capacity

Civilization advancements increased growth Bubonic plague caused a decrease Industrial Revolution led to exponential growth
