The Supreme Court is the highest court in the nation and has final authority on all Constitutional issues.
It’s main job is to interoperate the Constitution. If a law violates the Consultation it is declared “unconstitutional” and is void. This power is called “Judicial Review.” This power is determined in the famous court case Mulberry v. Madison.
There were originally six supreme court justices. Today there are nine.
Judges are appointed for life (with good behavior) by the president and approved by congress.
a majority is needed to pass a decision.
Head judge is called the Chief Justice.
