These courses are offered in Mathematics, Science, English, and History in Grade 10. These courses will provide support for students making the transition to high school by enhancing their skills to allow them to be successful at secondary school. OPEN (O) Students learn concepts and skills designed to prepare them for further study in the subject area. Expectations are designed and appropriate for all students

12 CERTIFICATE OF IMMERSION STUDIES
This program allows students to receive a bilingual education by further exploring and expanding the skills already acquired at the elementary level. In addition to stressing the importance of personal growth, it is the aim of this program to equip students with the practical knowledge of French so that they may take advantage of the numerous positions offered to candidates who are proficient in this language. Students must choose 2 or more courses that are not mandatory in Grades 10 to 12 in order to meet the requirements for the Certificate of Immersion Studies (10 Immersion credits including Grade 12 Francais) In addition, students MUST be sure to complete all diploma requirements.

13 SUMMER SCHOOL Unsuccessful semester 1? You could be eligible for summer school (MUST have between 35% and 49% and less than 15 absences) Guidance will keep track of your unsuccessful courses and call you down in MAY for summer school registration information if you are eligible If you are looking to take an Accelerated course in summer school (e.g. Grade 11 Math) you must still choose it in your option selections for next year If you are attempting to upgrade a mark you must register for the Accelerated course in summer school. Guidance will substitute an alternate course choice once registration is confirmed

After hitting SUBMIT, PRINT this form and have it SIGNED by your parent and RETURN it to your HOMEROOM TEACHER by FEBRUARY 20TH, 2018.

20 THE PROCESS All of your course selections are done through CAREER CRUISING COURSE PLANNER To choose your classes you have to: SELECT your classes on Course Planner SUBMIT your choices PRINT out a copy of your classes Have your parent SIGN the sheet RETURN the signed copy to your homeroom teacher

21 COURSE SELECTION DATES
February 15– you will be allowed to SUBMIT after reviewing your Semester 1 final report card Once you hit SUBMIT you will NOT be allowed to change your selections Your SIGNED FORMS are due to your homeroom teacher by February 20 If you don’t submit …we will choose your classes for you!
