We look at the angles that the vertex's form.

Perpendicular lines cross each other however, they must form right angles. Use your arms to make a T.

If this is an acute that means it has to measure less than 90°.
I know this is an acute angle because the vertex (where the two rays meet) tells me. I also can tell that this angle is not a right angle because it is smaller than an “L”. B C

21. Tell students you are going to divide them into groups of 4
Tell students you are going to divide them into groups of 4. You will want to have a mixed group of strong, medium and weak math students as well as balance the number of leaders in the group. Spread the groups around the room and give each group a piece of yarn that is approximately 4 feet long. Tell the students they will need to listen carefully to your directions, model the figure you have described, and be prepared to justify their answers.
Examples: "Please make a 4 sided figure with 4 right angles." "Can you make a different 4 sided figure with 4 right angles?" "Can you make a 4 sided figure with no right angles?" "Please make a 5-sided figure with 2 right, 2 obtuse, 1 acute angles."

On their index cards: Draw and label an acute, right and obtuse angle. Ask them to draw a pentagon or a square and identify the angles in that figure.
Turn the card over and answer: How do I identify different types of angles in 2-dimensional figures?
