11 Assessed on tangible personal property purchased primarily by businesses from outside the state of Missouri for use, storage or consumption - not for resale. Does not apply to purchases already subject to Missouri sales tax. It is NOT a double tax. If you are not currently required to pay a county or state use tax, you will not be required to pay the city’s use tax.

12 This ballot measure allows Jackson to retain the existing sales tax on out-of-state vehicle purchases. This fee has already been in place for many years. Residents who purchase vehicles outside Missouri would only pay the vehicle administrative fee – NOT the use tax.

16 The City of Jackson’s use tax would be assessed at 2% - the same rate as the current sales tax.
Preliminary calculations estimate that the use tax will generate between $200,000 and $300,000 annually. The vehicle administrative fee currently generates about $100,000 each year.
