1 Uranus Marilyn and Annora
This is a picture of Uranus and its rings taken by Voyager2. Marilyn and Annora

2 History William Herschel discovered Uranus on March 13,1981 on a telescope. Uranus is named after the Greek God of the Heavens. In 1997 James Elliot discovered Uranus’s Moons.

3 Solar System Uranus Is the 7th planet from the sun
It takes Uranus 84 Earth years for it to orbit the sun. A Day on Uranus is 17 hours Uranus is 1,787,274,000 miles away from the sun.

4 Moons Uranus has at least 34 moons.
The names of some of these moons are Oberon, Titania, Gray Umbriel, Ariel, and The smallest one, Miranda.

5 Planet appearance Chemicals in the Atmosphere make
Uranus appear a Greenish-Bluish color. Uranus is a gas planet , which means scientists haven’t found any solid land on Uranus.

6 Rings Uranus is known to have only 11 rings
Uranus’s rings are made out of unknown Black material from the solar System The name of the rings are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon.

7 Exploration Uranus has been visited by only 1 satellite.
It’s name was Voyager 2. Voyager 2 visited Uranus on the date January 24, 1986.

8 Interesting Facts Before William Herschel discovered Uranus, people believed it was just another star in the sky. Uranus is also the father of Saturn. Uranus is the only planet lying on it’s side. Scientists believe that long ago, a object huge as earth struck Uranus so hard that it completely changed it’s rotation.

9 More Interesting Facts
Did you know that Uranus’s atmosphere is 83% hydrogen, 15% helium and 2% methane. Some scientists have a theory that underneath all the gas there may be a small piece of solid rock. That theory has not been proven to be true yet.

10 Even More Facts! Saturn was the only known unique planet with rings. That was until 1977 when James Eliot discovered very faint rings on Uranus. Did you know that even though Uranus has 34 moons scientists are finding more. Oberon and Tatiana are the biggest Uranian moons.
