3. Which course is my child studying?
If your child is in Set 1 then they will be following the Separate Science course and will be awarded 3 Science GCSE’s (one each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
If your child is in set 2-5 then they will be following the Trilogy (Double award) specification and will be awarded 2 Science GCSE’s (both in ‘Science’)

AQA Single Sciences GCSE - Topics and Assessments
 The specifications can be found here:
 There are six papers in total and this will gain you 3 separate GCSEs (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). 2 papers each for biology, chemistry and physics these will all be taken at the end of Year 11 in the Summer exams.
Each paper is 1hr 45mins (33.3% of the GCSE)

13. Specification and basic information - Trilogy
AQA - Combined Science GCSE Trilogy (8464)
The specification can be found here:
There are six papers in total and this will gain you 2 GCSEs for the combined Science:
2 for biology, 2 for chemistry and 2 for physics these will all be taken at the end of Year 11 in the Summer exams.
Each paper is 1hr 15mins (16.7% of the GCSE)

These are available to order – please collect a slip from your Science teacher
Separate Science students will need to order 3 whereas Trilogy students just need one.

16. What is Tassomai?
Tassomai is a way to avoid stressful cramming near exams by spreading your learning and revision throughout the year.
It provides students with a series of daily quizzes specifically tailored to their needs

You need to use the register code for your NEW group. For example 11 D3 for my group. Then choose either
11 D3 F (Foundation) or 11 D3 H (Higher)
You need to check whether you are doing the Higher or Foundation paper and then click to add yourself to that group

23. Required practicals
These have been bought in by the Exam Boards to replace the Coursework element of the GCSE.
The students carry out the practicals during lesson time and they will be examined on their content. They will make up 20% of the exam content.
