I. INTRODUCTION A. Grab reader’s attention B. State claim The NCAA is one of the foremost paid to athlete institutions around. Just recently, famous Auburn University football star Cam Newton was demanding, or as it was stated by Chronicle News Services “inferring that he was expecting to receive $180,000 and more for his efforts on the football field”. Even though players come out every week to play a game and get money for it, people abuse this privilege.

II. REASON 1 A. must include 1 piece of supporting evidence III. REASON 2 In proving the point that professional athletes are overly paid for their duties, a recent article from The Horizon, Santa Barbara, California press agent, Justin Hjelm, states specific details on these sad affairs of athletes. Athletes have so much money they cannot relate to the average person. “Kenny Anderson, then a guard for the Boston Celtics, complained of not being able to afford the insurance for eight cars” (964). This statement by Mr. Anderson only further shows how professional athletes are impersonal and selfish in their ways.

IV. COUNTER-ARGUMENT A. Address objections to your reasons B. Present counter-arguments C. Try to expose faulty logic On the other hand, some individuals believe that athletes are prime dollar receivers and well deserve the large salaries they are paid. As stated by Mr. Singletary, “The players are no more selfish than the owners who pay their salaries” (961). The owners’ arrogance and greediness prove that the players also expect to be put on pedestals and paid outrageously.

V. REBUTTAL A. Re-address your claim and why it is the strongest B. Save strongest argument for last To restate my own claim, athletes are simply too over paid for their own good. “Athletes are paid far too much for what they do, but I believe that society is more at fault for this than the athletes themselves are” (963). This is stated well and proven well when athletes cannot show respect toward their own fans and treat all respectfully and kindly.

VI. CONCLUSION A. End strongly B. Show your passion on the issue C. End with a call to action-what to do about the issue? Because athletes are so overly paid, the entire establishment should be reviewed. With this review, those salaries should be split and paid out to those common men that protect our lives and living. This is the only way that our economy can truly replenish itself and show good cause for earnings.
