2. Curriculum
English
Autumn Term: Information Texts, Diaries, Fairytales and Persuasive Writing.
Spring Term: Myths and Legends, News Reports, Information Text and Explanation Text.
Summer Term: Poetry, Stories and Biography.
Children are expected to read at home every day and need to fill in their reading record. Inside the reading record are tips to support parents in listening to their children read.
They will have spellings to learn each week for their test on Monday. Each week they will have a spelling lesson, a grammar lesson as well as text lessons. In addition to this they will have regular handwriting lessons.

3. Curriculum
Maths
Number, Calculations, Fractions, Geometry, Measurement, Ratio, Proportion and Statistics.
The children will have a times tables test each week on a Wednesday. They need to practise these so that they can recite them by heart. They will also have a piece of homework each week.

4. Curriculum
R.E
People, Called, Gift, Community, Giving and Receiving, Self-discipline, New Life, Building Bridges and God’s People.
The children will also learn about other religions including Judaism and Islam. We will also be having class visits from Father Sean and Father Simon to support our learning.
Assemblies or Hymn Practices are held daily bringing the school together as a community to worship God.

5. Curriculum

History – Romans, Saxons and Vikings
Geography – Italy and Maps
ICT – Internet Safety, Multimedia Presentations, Data Handling, Programming and Research
Art – Looking at Italian artists, Sketching, Landscapes and Perspective
DT – Shields, Robots, Cooking and Shelters
PE – Gymnastics, Netball, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Tennis, Rounders, Cricket, Athletics and Dance

6. Rewards
Children will be rewarded with praise and House Points. At the end of each week the House Points are added together to work out an overall winning house. They win the House Cup. At the end of each term the house that has won the most weeks gets to wear their own clothes including their house colours for the day.
During Celebration Assembly two children from each class who have produced outstanding work that week will be presented with a certificate from the Headteacher in front of the entire school.

7. Sanctions
On the first day of the term the children were shown the six school rules and they are displayed in the classroom. When they break any of the school rules then they may be given yellow or red reflection time, depending on the severity of the action.
The children have to fill in a reflection sheet explaining what they did, who it effected and what they will do instead in future. These are then given to Mrs Fawcett. If they receive a red reflection then parents will be informed.
Children will lose their break times as a consequence of breaking the school rules.

8. Marking Policy
Understanding Our Marking is displayed in each class for the children to follow. They are encouraged to be involved and at times take charge of their own marking.
The children receive ticks and house points for excellent work and they can identify how well they have met the objective by the symbol placed next to it.
Pink marking is used to demonstrate positive feedback. Multiple ticks are given for exceptional work.
Green marking is used by the teacher to provide next steps for the children to make and to show corrections.
Black marking is for peer assessment. The person who marks it also writes their name.
Purple marking is for self-assessment. It is also used by the children to respond to feedback and to make corrections.
Children are encouraged to use smiley face notation to demonstrate how they feel about their own understanding.

9. Diaries
We have provided the children across the school with homework diaries which is also their reading record.
Each week you should sign their diary over the weekend and we will endeavour to check and sign on a Monday.
Any messages should go in the book or on a note and it’s the responsibility of your child to inform us if we need to see a message/note.
