16 Kerzner Project of the Year award
What is Project of the Year Award? The Project of the Year Award recognizes and honors the premier project in the Northeast Ohio area for the year, taking into account the use of project management principles, particularly the PMBOK in the planning, design, construction, and implementation of the project. What project is eligible for nomination? Any project completed in Northeast Ohio during the 2017 calendar year. Project of the Year Award is based on the Northeast Ohio project of most significance and may be presented to one individual or a group of individuals.

17 Kerzner Project of the Year award – Runner up
GE Lighting SAP to the Cloud Project Manager: Bill Cook In 2016, GE finalized the sale of its GE Appliances division. As part of that divestiture, there was a need to separate the operations of GE Appliances and GE Lighting, which previously operated as one business unit. Specifically, this meant moving the Lighting systems and infrastructure out of the Appliances data center to a new location. The decision was made to move to a cloud hosted by third-party vendor Virtustream. This project completed the move of more than 300 Virtual Machines and over 150 TB of data over a period of thirteen months.  Projects of this scope rarely are delivered as initially planned. This project completed six months earlier than required and more than 20% under budget. The project has integrated an entirely new operating model into the organization. The organization has barely noticed! Outside of the actual migrations which required some downtime, IT has been successful in adopting an entirely new infrastructure as well as new practices and procedures with minimal impact to our customers. Lighting is the first GE business unit to run a mission-critical ERP production system in the cloud, entirely outside of a GE data center. This success sets the stage for other business units to do the same—and multiple units are well along in the planning process, aided by the lessons learned in this project.

18 Kerzner Project of the Year award
Recipient of the 2017 Kerzner Project of Year Award is: Cleveland Metropolitan School District – Workday Implementation Program Accepting the award: Tim Oberschlake

19 CMSD Workday Implementation program
What makes this project special:  CMSD’s goals for the Workday program were to deploy and successfully manage the change associated with moving to a modern, agile, and unified Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. The resulting platform provided a unified view of the business processes for all schools and administrative offices within the District. Best business practices were leveraged to achieve an intuitive user experience. This included a robust self-service platform for employees, managers, and executives, all provided via secure access through web-browsers, tablets, and smart phones. Business Benefits: The CMSD Workday Implementation Program transformed an Urban K12 School District using Workday’s Finance and HCM SaaS Cloud ERP system. The program increased operational effectiveness and efficiency through the implementation of business processes that leveraged an intuitive user experience and robust self-service platform for employees, managers, and executives contract.
