1913, commissioned by Diaghilev's Ballet Russes, composed by Stravinsky Depicts a pagan ritual in which a virgin (who is to be sacrificed) dances herself to death so that the spring can begin SCANDAL: More attention to rhythm than melody In terms of dance: the classical ballet etiquette was completely violated!
