Houston Home Sales Bring Good Tidings
In November
HAR will release November 2017 MLS statistics this Wednesday and here is an advance peek at highlights of the monthly report:
Home sales across greater Houston extended their post-Harvey rebound with a 7.4 percent increase, as 6,184 single-family units sold.
The single-family home median price was statistically flat at $225,725 while the average price edged up about one percent to $284,250 – both record highs for a November.
Months of inventory ticked up to a 3.7 months supply from 3.6 months a year earlier – still struggling to replenish following the surge in property demand from Harvey. National housing inventory currently stands at a 3.9-months supply, according to NAR.
Single-family home rentals rose 6.8 percent year-over-year while townhome/condo rentals surged 20.1 percent.

As 2017 builds toward a closing crescendo, it is evident that the year's dominant storyline is beyond a clever weekly jab. Across the U.S., it has been an interesting and remarkably positive year for residential real estate. Even as some desirable housing tax breaks are on the verge of sunsetting, real estate, as a whole, remains in excellent shape.
In the Houston region, for the week ending December 3:
• New Listings increased 8.6% to 2,150
• Pending Sales increased 28.5% to 1,713
• Closed Sales increased 5.5% 2,083
