Internet Accessibility - Survey Results.

This graph shows that 81% (29/36) of the students who responded to the survey do have access outside of the campus, 11% (4/36) don’t and the other 8% (3/36) do have access but only sometimes. This question showed that even though majority of the students do have access to the internet, there are still a few who don’t and some who battle to get.

This graph shows that wifi is the most common means by which 63% of students connect to the internet which may explain that those who do not have access to the internet outside of campus might not have access to wifi at home etc. Mobile data (chosen by 37% of students) can become costly which is why fewer use that in comparison to wifi when wanting to connect to the internet.

Socio economic factors play a huge role in these results as it shows that on a typical weekday only 19% use the internet for while while 8% use the internet for gaming, 2% for other and the majority (69%) use it for socialising.

This graph shows that those who use the internet use facebook (50%), Instagram (31%) and snapchat (19%) the most compared to any other social networking apps.

This shows that not everyone has the same level as skills as the students when it comes to using technology, 50% have answered that the rest of the community does in fact have the same skills as them and the other 50% have answered that they don’t. The half that have answered that they don’t, probably lack the skills because of the areas that they live in and the lack of internet access and technology they have.
