1. PLC GOAL
The goal of the Fountas and Pinnell Professional Learning Community is to delve deeper into understanding the how, why, and what of the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System as used by QSI Literacy teachers. As a learning community, we will work together to form a common understanding of the components of the assessment, the administration of the assessment, analysis of the results and the information provided to teachers regarding their student’s reading and writing behaviors and finally how this information is used to better understand the needs of individual learners and a classroom as a whole to form teaching plans of instruction and ensure literacy success for all learners.

Group 1: New to using Balanced Literacy structures and analyzing running records to teach literacy.
Group 2: Familiar with balanced literacy structures and analyzing running records to teach literacy, beginning to better understand the data sheet and Literacy Continuum for instructional decision making.
Group 3: Comfortable and familiar with balanced literacy structures. How can I use all my knowledge to create focused lessons across the balanced literacy block and content areas.
