Some have questioned why Isaiah placed these verses here. But, characteristic of this great prophetic writer, he alternated the message of judgment with the message of blessing. In contrast with the Messiah’s future reign of justice and righteousness the nation in Isaiah’s day was ruled by leaders who did not care about the people under them …. When these words were written, the Northern Kingdom was already in some disrepair.

Judah should have realized that she too would be destroyed if she persisted in the activities that characterized the North.
