In Fall 2007, 84% of 5,596 new students took a placement exam in math and either English or ESL to determine their skill level and the courses for which they were prepared. Of the 4,691 students who took at least one test 1,570 ( 33.5%) placed into pre-and beginning algebra.

11. BSI NEEDS – LOOMING CRISIS
75% of incoming students place into basic skills courses (Math, English, ESL)
Only 26% of these students will get a seat in a basic skills course
Of these, only 10% of the basic skills math students will succeed in the next level of math within the next year
Only 21% of the basic skills math students will reach transfer math level within 6 years.
