1 EGTEI proposals for the review of the Gothenburg Protocol
8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept

2 EGTEI proposals for the review of the Gothenburg Protocol
According to EB decisions in December 2005, EGTEI is mandated to contribute to the review of the annexes IV, V and VIII (SO2 emissions, NOX emissions and mobile sources) To accomplish this task, EGTEI will submit to the next WGS&R a declaration of intentions 8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept

3 Identified priorities
Large combustion plants (annexes IV and V): Comparison of ELVs in the Protocol annexes and the last LCP directive (2001/80/CE) A check of correct transposition of the LCP directive is proposed. 8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept

4 Identified priorities
Cement and Claus plants (respectively annex V and IV): EGTEI has carried out studies on these two activity sectors and background documents have been elaborated. Achievable ELVs and related costs will be identified. 8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept

5 Identified priorities
Mobile sources (annex VIII) Road traffic: Analysis of road traffic emissions and abatement technologies is already carried out by the EU Commission. Off road vehicles: An update of the ELVs tables (completion according to last EU directives) is proposed. 8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept

6 Identified priorities
Titanium dioxide, stationary engines and metal industries (annexes IV and V) These sectors are not currently covered by EGTEI, since titanium dioxide and stationary engines were not identified as priority sectors to be addressed by EGTEI. An enquiry will be carried out among national experts in EGTEI to collect ELVs implemented in their respective countries, in the above sectors. The enquiry might not be exhaustive, although useful information could be provided. Emerging technologies are still under discussion (evolving of existing technologies vs time). 8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept

7 Current Activities in EGTEI (2006)
Survey on small combustion boilers carried out by Italy LCP: testing of the EGTEI proposal on LCP, larger than 500 MW, is currently investigated, in Sweden, new member of EGTEI, in cooperation with Norway, Finland and Denmark. Similar test on LCP could be carried out in NL but budget restrictions have to be overcome, yet. Possible extention of the wood combustion analysis to other Northern EU Contries 8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept

8 Other issues in chapter V
The following issues identified in chapter V cannot be addressed by EGTEI since they are out the area of its expertise: Sufficiency of ELVs in hot-spot areas Remaining questions 8 Month project started in December 03 With the subcontractors CITEPA for VOC sectors and ITA Wien for the workshop concept
