2. Career Description
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a 3D modeler constructs characters, environments, and the needed tools to develop these things. Along with making those things they also work in the field of web design, special effects, and props for film. They can also be used to create models and images for architects and scientists. In particular creating building models and modeling certain geological processes or engineering processes, etc.

3. Education/skill requirements
Any degree, whether certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree are recommended to have if going into this field, but isn’t required for hiring.
A very good sense in computer knowledge and function, as well as how to use various programs used by the industry.
Almost a must to have a collaborative personality, especially going into game design, because you will likely be working in teams.
Must be a creative person, as well as a problem solver in order to model.
If looking for a job/looking to going to school it is helpful to have a very broad portfolio, covering multiple subjects to display your skills as a modeler.

If one wanted to become a 3D modeler for a game company, one would have to take courses in game design or some computer science that deals with the modeling software. But if you were looking at going into the scientific fields to model real life events or architecture, consider majoring in a science related major, for example, physics or an engineering major.

University of Southern California – Bachelor’s Degree in Game Design, with specified 3D design courses
University of Utah
University of Central Florida- Degree in Digital Media, with a game design focus
UT Dallas- Bachelor of Arts in Arts and Technology with specialized game design and 3D animation courses

The average salary for a 3D modeler is usually between $50,000-60,000 a year. But, they have the potential to make up to $115, ,000 a year. Meanwhile the average hourly wage is around $18-20 an hour. Furthermore, the industry as a whole is expected to grow 6% between , meaning there will be job opportunities in the coming future.
