1 Carbon/Oxygen Cycle

2 Producers and consumers combine to recycle carbon and oxygen
Producers take in carbon dioxide from the air, use it during photosynthesis, store the carbon and produce oxygen as a waste product They use it to make sugars and starches (FOOD) Ex. glucose Consumers eat the producers and absorb the carbon food molecules

3 Consumers take in this food and through the process of respiration create carbon dioxide as a waste product. When consumers die, decomposers break down the remaining carbon and return it to the soil. Decomposers also create carbon dioxide. Any type of burning of fossil fuels (combustion) also releases carbon dioxide into the air.

5 Greenhouse Effect Process where gasses in the atmosphere absorb and then give off infrared radiation. Main gasses: carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, This is a natural process!

9 How have we, as humans, changed the carbon cycle?
When fossil fuels are burned they release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, so when we burn fossil fuels as energy for our cars, homes, factories, etc. , we are releasing more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
