Convinced Athens to build over 200 trirene in case Persians came again Ship’s purpose is to be used to ram ships and make them sink

These are people who were believed to tell the future. The Oracles said there would be total disaster

5 Themistocles was convinced that wasn’t the right answer
Returned to the Oracle This time said a wooden wall would not fail Themistocles interpreted that as his 200 trirenes

6 The Solution Athens would evacuate all
Women and children would leave the city All men would go to the island of Salamis

7 The Plan Is daring and dangerous
It is requiring total sacrifice by all If they lose, they will lose everything….even their lives
