Women are IT (WIT) Welcome to Fasten your seatbelts coz you will be taking an accelerated trip down WIT’s Specifications lane Goals Audience and Competition Content Structure End

2 Goals To increase the impact of women on all aspects of technology.
To increase the positive impact of technology on the lives of the world's women. To help communities, industry, education and governments benefit from these increases.

3 Goals Elaborated WIT provides IT related information for women around the world in terms of News, IT products, Educational courses, IT Job opportunities, IT Organisations, Online Community, IT Publications, IT Training and Recruitment Agencies and a survey of Women and IT in different countries. The principal aim is to learn from, support and encourage each other to leverage our skills as women, raise our comfort-zone and achieve our career-goals which raises the status of women and in the I.T. industry in particular. The most important goal of WIT is to share knowledge with those interested in learning more about technology through an interactive community of women. Our mission is to bring members together so that they may create the ultimate resource for themselves. It is time for women to bridge the gap in the IT industry and realize that they are an invaluable resource.

4 Goals Elaborated... We believe that technology education can be the catalyst for changing the lives of these women. Education policy-makers all over the globe are designing curriculum to familiarize adults with current and emerging technologies to be prepared to find jobs in new economy. Such opportunities for exposure to computer technology are available to a limited population in our society.

5 WE WANT TO CHANGE THIS. So, Act Locally & Think Globally !!!

6 Audience Because we have decided that our theme is Women in Information Technology, we defined our intended audience as: Women between the age range of Women who use IT in their professions. Women who are well-informed, educated and interested in the Information economy.

7 Competitive Analysis After our group deliberations, WIT came up with five websites who could be possible competitors to our site. The URL’s are given below: Competition: . . . . . We found that the Educate IT site(URL number 4) and Tech Woman(URL number 5), captures it’s intended users the most, with interesting graphics and simple but attractive layout. No doubt both websites have a large traffic but they are not women specific and user interactive.

8 Mom4Mom.com, a website for a cyber community of mothers is our next competitor as it has interactive features and cyber platforms for sharing and support but it is difficult to navigate through the site. Our website will model after No.4 and 5’s best features and will incorporate User Interactive features from mom4mom.com, and in it we will try to avoid the technical mistakes they make.

10 Scenario Sunita Rai, aged 30, married with 1 child. Sunita has a full-time job in a dotcom. She wants to use IT products and services to multi-task. Julia Roberts, aged 23, single and happy, wants to use IT for skill enhancement, career, social and emotional development(chat).

11 Scenario... Dodo Ching, aged 40, is a senior manager in an NGO. She wants to use WIT to get resources and support for the young girls in her NGO.
