Simply move the digits one place to the left H T U Add a zero to hold place value! 4 3 When multiplying 43 by 10. What does the 40 become? What does the 3 become? Each value has become 10 times bigger. The digits move one place to the left and the zero is added to keep place value. 43 x 10 is 430 43 x 10 = 430

Let’s try with a decimal number
. H T U t 1 4 3 . The same method applies when multiplying a decimal by 10. All digits move one place to the left. The decimal place doesn’t move. In the case 1tenth becomes 1 unit. It has become 1-0 times bigger. What will the 3 become? What will the 40 become? 43.1 x 10 = 431
