2. Bernoulli’s Principle
We will be splitting the class into two groups
One will be doing a lab in the back the other going through a Powerpoint explaining what Bernoulli’s principle is.

3. First the Lab
We are now going to do an experiment that will help you see what Bernoulli discovered.

4. What happens to pressure when air moves?
The pressure goes down

5. Why does this happen?
Air molecules are what cause air pressure so if you move them out of the way you decrease the pressure.

6. Now a little demo with a hair dryer
Why does the ball stay in the air?
The air above it is moving and therefore you have a low pressure above and a high pressure below that will support the weight.

7. What could happen to a window if there were high speed winds moving on only one side?
The higher pressure could cause it to fall out

The shape of the wing causes low pressure on top

Some say the angle of the wing pushes air flow down and the wing up, and the shape of the wing causes low pressure on top

11. The truth
The truth is that the shape of a wing wouldn’t provide enough force to lift a plane, neither would the force of the wing angle deflecting air down.
They both work to lift the plane
