UNIT 3: MANUFACTURING UNIT 1.1: Autodesk Inventor TUMBLER Build UNIT 2.1: Autodesk Inventor CLAWBOT Build

3 Project Overview Using imates to assemble Inventor Parts
Assembling parts with constraints Modifying Inventor Parts Working with Sheet Metal Adapting Assemblies Working with Sub-Assemblies Creating an accurate product

4 LESSON 01 INTRODUCTION In this micro project you are going to produce a fully assembled VEX Tumbler. Once built, you will be able to: - render it using Image Studio - animate it to appear moving - modify it with different sensors and attachments - personalise the VEX Inventor parts to add colour, design and improvement

5 OVERVIEW VIDEO

6 LESSON 01

7 AUTODESK INVENTOR ENVIRONMENT
The Inventor environment has a number of key areas you need to know The Ribbon The location of all tools needed for assembly The application button Create new files ViewCube Grab with your cursor to navigate the view Place button Import new parts of sub-assemblies Navigation Bar Additional tools to help you adjust the view during assembly Browser A list of all the parts, in order of assembly, including all constraints. Graphic Display Where you conduct your assembly

8 VIDEO 1 Video Tasks: - Import parts - Free rotate parts - use iMates
Key words: Programmable, environment, design, manufacturing and application

9 VIDEO 2 Video Tasks: - assemble parts so that they can move and rotate - create complex relationships between parts Key words: Programmable, environment, design, manufacturing and application

10 VIDEO 3 Video Tasks: - apply fixings and fittings to replicate a real product in the virtual environment Key words: Programmable, environment, design, manufacturing and application

11 LESSON 01 PLENARY Using your Engineering Notebook Record what you have achieved today in your notebook. Include: - written descriptions of tasks completed - bullet pointed steps undertaken - parts brought in - sketches of processes and sub assemblies Sign off Get your teacher to sign off your notebook by the end of the lesson.

12 SUMMARY Inventor Skills developed Assembling parts using iMates
