1 ASSIGNMENT D13 ASSEMBLY MODELING

2 DO 1 Create the four part D13 Base Parts (Ask me for the sheets) Collar Base-Plate Cap-Screw Bearing Save each part as its own file Close all the open parts

3 DO 2 Make a new Standard(in).iam Assembly File We always place the most important sub assembly, in this case it’s the base plate

4 DO 3 Click the Place button on the ribbon Choose the Base- Plate.ipt part that you just made Click Open Right-Mouse-Click and and choose Place Grounded at Origin Right-Click again and choose OK

5 DO 4 Click place again This time choose the Bearing.ipt part Place the Bearing towards the upper right corner of the graphics window as shown

6 DEGREES OF FREEDOM Objects can move in all three directions and rotate in all three axis. It is important to lock them down, so they act predictably This is just like constraining a sketch

7 DO 5 Click Constrain on the ribbon Choose Mate as the type Click the top face of the base plate

8 DO 6 Use the cube to rotate the view Choose the bottom of the Bearing part. Now those two faces will glued together You will hear a click if sound is turned on

9 DO 7 Choose the axis of this hole Click the hole on the base plate

10 DO 8 Now if you try to move the bearing (by clicking and moving it with the mouse), it can only move one way Repeat the constraint with the other screw hole to fully combine the two parts Now you won’t be able to move the bearing at all

11 DO 9 Place the Collar.ipt Part as shown Click on the constrain button if it’s not still open

12 DO 10 Change the constraint type to insert Choose the corner of the collar shown

13 DO 11 Choose the ring on the bearing Now the two parts are put together

14 DO 12 Place two Cap- Screws as shown One your own, constrain the screws into their holes

15 DO 13 Save your assembly as D13.Shaft Support Assembly There is one exercise that goes with this lesson
