Producers
Consumers
Producers- plants, algae, and other organisms that use photosynthesis to produce their own energy
Producers also include organisms such as chemosynthetic bacteria found at the bottom of the ocean.
Chemosynthesis
Consumer- organisms that get their energy from plants
Consumers are also organisms that feed on smaller plant-eating organisms
Consumers – may also eat the larger organisms that feed on the plant eating organisms.

What’s a food web and food chain?
Food chain – shows a single feeding relationship in an ecosystem.
Food web – shows multiple feeding relationships in an ecosystem.
Made up of many smaller food chains.
The arrows on the food webs and chains point toward the thing that does the eating!

21. Today we will be creating food chains and a food web.
Begin by making a single food chain starting with a producer.
Remember, arrows point toward the thing that does the eating!
All of your organisms must be aquatic here.
After we discuss your initial food chain, create two more food chains side by side.
You must have at least 3 producers at the bottom of your marine food chains(things that make their own food…like certain plants & phytoplankton)
You must have at least 9 (total) other aquatic organisms that are connected to your food chains.
Now lets draw arrows indicating which organisms eat what.
You have created a food web!

28. Create your Own Food Web
What should it have?
Arrows point toward the thing that does the eating!
15-20 types of living things (more species names, the better!)
You should include both aquatic and terrestrial species in your food web.
Include at least one type of phytoplankton (no arrows should point to it because it doesn’t eat anything else)!
Remember, producers are always found at the beginning of the food chain/food web.
