3 A. Portfolios What Is a Portfolio?
A portfolio is a collection of student work that exhibits the student's efforts, progress, and achievements in one or more areas of the curriculum. The collection must include the following: Student participation in selecting contents. Criteria for selection. Criteria for judging merits. Evidence of a student's self-reflection. CMagno

4 A. Portfolios Why Use a Portfolio? Encouraging self-directed learning.
Enlarging the view of what is learned. Demonstrating progress. Creating an intersection for instruction and assessment. Providing a way for students to value themselves as learners. CMagno

Drawing Photography Design or project work that demonstrates originality and problem solving capabilities. Visual and written documentation 2D or 3D design project Design related work from another discipline Group based work, etc. CMagno

6 B. Presentation boards Presentation boards are commonly used in work places or schools to display information. They are easy to create and can be customized to match the environment they will be displayed in. How to create an efficient board: Create a catchy headline. This will depend on the topic of your presentation board. A question or fact can be more attention-grabbing, however. Your headline will need to be quite large to be readable from a distance. Decide on information to include. What you choose will depend on the purpose of your board. For a school, you could display children's work on the topic, or information from a textbook. For work, referenced material on the topic may be more appropriate. CMagno
