1 Plants life in the Ocean
By: Cecilia Carrillo, Daniela Cedillo, and Susana Muñoz

2 Ocean plants are located near the surface where the sunlight can reach them because they need sunlight for energy. They combine sunlight with nutrients from the ocean water to make food.

3 Notes Plants absorb large amount of substance like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur. They are many plants in the ocean that include seaweed, rockweed, and sea grass. Plants in the ocean produce over half the world’s oxygen. The most important plants in the ocean are too small to be seen without a microscope. Ocean color tells you how much phytoplankton there is in the water.

4 Plants absorb large amount of substance like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur.
The elements nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon are critical nutrients for the growth of plants.

5 Types of plants in the ocean
This plant is call Authoplera Elagantissima and is 20 inches long. This plant is Northern red anemone and it is 5 inches long.

6 Question True or False The substances that plants absorb are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur. The nutrients for the growth of plants are hydrogen. The plants need to absorb substance for life. The plants are important to give us oxygen. The word photosynthesis means the conversion of light energy into chemical energy by living organisms.

7 Vocabulary Plankton: free-floating, microscopic ocean plants and animals. Photosynthesis: conversion of light energy into chemical energy by living organisms.
