2. One way the media represented a particular social group was through the construction of realism. We constructed our film in a thriller genre using the codes and conventions from the genre. We chose a location to set the mise - en-scene along with the iconography such as the ties and the knives, to make it seem realistic in the thriller genre.

3. Our media product can be represented in many different ways due to preferred meaning, this is when the audience is able to make their own meaning out of particular scenes in our opening instead of us spoon feeding the audience and telling them what the story is. An example would be, the knives scene which is when the protagonist was getting dressed and whilst he was picking his ties from the draw, he had a line of knives which creates audience curiosity but also builds tension and it builds many different questions in the audience minds as to why the knives are placed there. As our thriller is a psychological thriller, our aim is to get the audience questioning things and to build suspense. As in the screenshot to the right, we introduce the main character using a close up of his eyes to build suspense around the mystery of the character.

4. This screenshot from our opening is from when we introduced our main character from close ups to build suspense, in this scene, we see a close up of the character putting his glasses on. This builds suspense because it gets the character more curious as to who this man is and how he looks. The audience would want to know who this man is because the knives scene already builds the tension so the audience want to start getting to know the main character more and how he looks. Thriller genres aims are usually to build suspense which we aim to do throughout our opening scene.
