The Need for Gratitude
Thankfulness needs to be a part of our everyday lives
1 Thessalonians 5:18, “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Psalm 92:1-2, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.”
Psalm 119:62, “At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, because of your righteous judgments.”

The Need for Gratitude
God deserves our thanks.
Psalm 50:14, “Offer to God thanksgiving and pay your vows to the Most High.”
Psalm 95:2-3, “Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.”

We should also learn to be thankful to others.
2 Thessalonians 1:3, “We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting.”
Romans 16:3-4, “Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.”

We should also learn to be thankful to others.
Ephesians 5:3-4, “But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.”

Gratitude should be Natural
Gratitude on the part of the lepers seems so obvious.
Thankfulness is a command to Christians, but it should also simply be a natural reaction to good.
Gratitude makes all the difference.
When God extends blessing after blessing to man, but man receives them but doesn’t show his appreciation to God, how do you think God feels?
Conversely, how do you think God feels when a man constantly thanks Him for being good to him?

God’s People are Sometimes Unthankful
Do you know ungrateful people?
The other “Good Samaritan”.
Are we, as God’s children, ungrateful for His blessings?

Gratitude is tied to Faith
Colossians 2:7, “rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
