2. Background
Sony released the franchise in 1994 with release of the Playstation console in japan. Microsoft followed by releasing the Xbox in 2001 competing with Sony’s Playstation 2. Both franchises went to be global leaders in gaming.

3. Current Platforms
Current platforms of these brands are the Xbox one and the PlayStation 4. PlayStation is beating Microsoft in sales because of the low price and also the PlayStation is overall is more powerful than the Xbox one. Also a contributing factor could be that in the campaign for the Xbox one they were very focused on making the Xbox a media platform whereas Sony were focusing on the players. And that s what the market wants for the console to be a gaming platform not a media platform.

4. Xbox One (Xbone)
The Xbox one was released November 22, It had the following specifications: These specs add up to a quite powerful console. It has an upper hand on the competitor which traditionally had HDCP encryption which prevent people from recording gameplay and posting it social media such as YouTube.

The game runs at 1080p native on the Ps4, and 720 on the Xbox One — some are saying that it’s definitive evidence that Sony’s system has a power edge on the Xbox One. Controller: The Dual shock 4 is the most drastic redesign of the Playstation controller since Sony got the idea to put analog sticks on it. The triggers are easier to use and rest your fingers on, there’s a share button for easy access to social features, and the clickable touch screen is front and center for a whole range of different controls.

6. My Honest Opinion
My thought on the Console war: I would personally pick the PS4 over the Xbox one because the ps4 is a more gamer focused console whereas the Xbox one is trying to be more entertainment console. I also prefer the design of the ps4 because it is sleek and slim whereas the Xbox one look a lot like a VCR. Price, This one is a no-brainer. If you just want to play games and don’t want to get bogged down in specs, motion controls, or all those other features you might wonder about, the PS4 will let you do that for £100 less. Overall I think the Ps4 is a complete console. Designed with the gamers in mind.
