Jeff Stoller, Assistant Commissioner Office of Research & Information NJ Department of Labor & Workforce Development Our goal to raise the percentage of New Jersey residents who have attained an industry-valued credential or degree from the current 50% to 65% by the year 2025.

2 More than one million New Jersey adults have yet to earn a degree or post-secondary credential. We must work together to build new pathways for our citizens. 1. Provide career awareness for all students and adults. All individuals need access to high quality, reliable information to make decisions about their education and their career. 2. Grow high school/college partnerships. These partnerships provide students an opportunity to earn college credit while in high school and can assist students to transition to college. 3. Expand credit-bearing credential programs in colleges and universities. Get students get on a pathway to a college degree while obtaining industry-valued skills. 4. Strengthen two- and four-year college partnerships. Create pathways to a four-year degree through a statewide transfer articulation agreement, reverse transfer agreements, and other innovative connections. MANY PATHS ONE FUTURE

5. Enhance commitment to equity. Strengthen NJ higher education’s role in supporting the rich diversity of our population, by identifying and addressing equity gaps in employment opportunity and educational attainment. 6. Make it easier for adults to earn a credential or degree. Help more adults obtain college credit for work and experience. Use Prior Learning Assessments and competency-based assessment. Build training and education partnerships with the military. MANY PATHS ONE FUTURE

7. Expand work experience programs for students. Provide more students with internships, apprenticeships, structured learning experiences, and mentoring. Valuable skills learned on the job can help inform their career decisions. 8. Enhance the partnerships between business and education. Employers play an essential role by informing curriculum and instruction, and assisting colleges and universities to be real-time responsive to changing demands. MANY PATHS ONE FUTURE

9 What You Can Do Partner with businesses, high schools, other colleges, community organizations and local governments in your region. Identify resources that your institution offers that can help to build a more prosperous New Jersey and more educated workforce. MANY PATHS ONE FUTURE
