1 Environment and Fisheries Partnership for the implementation of the CCLME project

2 CCLME project goal: “To reverse the degradation of the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem caused by over-fishing, habitat modification and changes in water quality by adoption of an ecosystem approach” Objective “To enable participating countries to address priority transboundary concerns on declining fisheries, associated biodiversity and water quality through governance reforms, investments and management programs.” The CCLME project will foster cooperation among project countries and contribute to a strengthened monitoring of the status of the CCLME based on sound science.

6 Decline of living marine resources
Collaboration permit identification of 3 overarching transboundary issues in the TDA: Decline of living marine resources Habitat degradation Decline in water quality Collaboration permit to identify the 3 transboundary issues identified in the TDA and related to environnment and fisheries

7 Collaboration permitted to formulate the Strategic Action Programme (SAP)
A vision: «  A healthy ecosystem, sustainably managed, providing services and equitable benefits for human well-being by 2030 » Long-term perspective (2030 horizon) that highlights the fundamental and priority elements for the CCLME: Health and well-being of populations and ecosystems Equity in resource use and distribution of ecosystem benefits Good governance Sustainability in the broad sense, for resource management and the mechanisms put in place

8 OTHER CCLME ACHIEVEMENTS
Development of project website and other communication materials Establishment of partner relationships for CCLME demonstration project implementation Definition of a cooperative governance mechanism for the CCLME area
