1 Spreadsheet Modelling
Lee, Martin, Nicole & Philippa.

2 What can a spreadsheet do?
Stores and presents information in a format of rows and columns known as a table (or a worksheet, which contains multiple tables). They have the ability to calculate multiple different types of values, including averages, simple sums, minimum and maximum values, etcetera. They can also perform complex calculations using complicated formulae. By storing the information in rows and columns instead of a simple list makes it easy to cross reference related data

3 Charts & Graphs Excel has a very large range of graphs and charts available for use with data, each of them being also extremely versatile to the user’s demands, and are able to be edited as needed. These include line graphs, pie charts, bar charts, scatter charts, etcetera.

4 Who are the main users of spreadsheets?
Every organisation will use spreadsheets to at least some extent, for tasks such as forecasting, plotting (profit, loss etc), and various other tasks. Some of the primary users include: Banks, accountants, both small and large businesses, sales, teachers, engineers Spreadsheets are great for business as they are an easy way of producing accounts, stock analysis and product lists. Teachers can use spreadsheets to keep track of marks given for homework and exams. Engineers need to perform hundreds of calculations when designing automobiles. Accountants need to keep track of all the money coming into the business and calculate profits and forecast how they think the business will do during the next year. All major companies and a lot of smaller ones use spreadsheets-it is useful for accounting and budgeting.

5 How can spreadsheets be used to solve complex equations.
Spreadsheets can solve many complex problems, because of their abilities to analyse data and present it in such a way that it can be used to identify trends and make comparisons. It is also used as a decision support system, due to its capabilities of presenting data, it allows its users to make large, strategic-level decisions based upon it. The way it presents data allows organisations to make large strategic level decisions because of its graphs, the comparison and data mining capabilities. For example, a company can form new strategies or products based upon the analysis of data.

6 How can spreadsheets be used to solve complex equations continued.
The easy manipulation of data also allows for the constant updating and changing of data throughout spreadsheets Data throughout a worksheet (a set of tables) can be linked so that they can automatically update themselves throughout when one table has been updated

7 How can organisations use interpretation methods to analyse data?
Organisations will use interpretation methods and data mining methods to determine trends and compare data along periods of times to identify and react to these trends, such as creating new products or strategies. These include the use of charts, graphs, trend lines (a feature of graphs/charts)
