9 Let’s get started! Go to the district home page
Click on Canvas Portal​ Use the URL for CCSD Canvas​ Bookmark your Canvas login page

10 When you log in: Click on your Dashboard on the left hand side. ​
You should see all of your current courses already created. ​

12 Choose one of your courses to work with during this session
Choose one of your courses to work with during this session. Click the card to open.

13 Creating Modules In Course Navigation, click the Modules link.
Click the Add a Module button.

14 Creating Modules: Type a name in the Module Name field. ​
If you want to restrict the module until a specific date, you can. If you have added at least one module to your course, you can require a prerequisite module. A prerequisite module means students must complete the added modules before they can view the new module.

15 Create a Disscussion In Course Navigation, click the Discussions link.
Click the +Discussion button to continue. In the Title field create a title for your discussion. Use the Rich Content Editor to create content for your discussion. You can also add links, files, and images to the discussion using the content selector. You can also add an attachment to your discussion by clicking the Choose File button.

16 Create an Assignment in Modules
Select the module to insert the Assignment. In Course Navigation, click the Assignments link. Name the assignment and Save.

17 Assignment Details Click on the assignment you created then click Edit. Fill in all areas of the assignments details. (See next slide)

19 Assignment Details Continue to work down the details of the assignment to specify: Points Assignment Groups Grading Type Submission Type Due and Available Dates Save

20 Adding YouTube Videos to Assignments
YouTube videos are automatically embedded in any feature that uses the Rich Content Editor. This lesson applies to the Announcements, Assignments, Discussions, Pages, Quizzes, and Syllabus features.

21 There are three different ways to link a YouTube video, depending on what you want it to look like:
Insert Link into the Rich Content Editor full link with embedded video) Insert Link with the Chain Icon (shortened link with optional embedded video) Hyperlink existing text (selected text becomes the link) Use KeepVid to download video, save, and insert.

Go to KeepVid.com Insert the YouTube URL Then click Download Choose Max 720P and click Download again. Once video down- load is complete, save the video.

Publishing makes your information or assignments available for students to see.

Announcements allow you to communicate with your students about course activities and post interesting course-related topics.

36 Commons Located in your navigation menu on the left
Can search for existing courses, modules, assessments, etc. Filter by type, grade level, or most recent View course, module, assessment, etc. Can add to your course by clicking Import into course on right sidebar
