2 Read the passage and answer these questions
Why is there a variety of tenses used in the report? When does/did each action take place?

Luis Enrique, Barca’s coach said, "The objective is to be the leader when the season ends. I have always said the big teams will lose throughout the course of the season and it will continue to happen, therefore we have to be very careful."

7 Present Perfect talk about things that have been completed
I have done my Math work, now it’s time to eat. Time signals: ‘since’, ‘for’ Liz has called you since this morning, but you have not even called her back.

8 Simple Past talk about completed actions talk about past habit

9 Past Continuous talk about actions that was happening in the past

10 Past Perfect talk about actions happened in the past before another happened You need to know that I had done my homework before mom asked me to. Miss Sherry knew that she had told you what to do earlier.

11 Past Perfect Continuous
talk about actions that was on progress when another occured Let me tell you that I had been walking around the building for almost an hour before you called me. Elsa told me that she had been trying to hide her power for a long time when finally she couldn’t hold it again.

12 Future talk about actions that will happen in the future
talk about future plans/ decision made at the moment of speaking I will kick the door open if you don’t open it, Jenn! Do you think just by sitting down will make you graduate?
