Educational framework to be filled with nationally and locally relevant content Emphasis on applying the new knowledge in practice and finding local examples and solutions As a tutor, you have a lot of freedom in building the content and choosing the methods But: you also bear the responsibility of structuring courses that are loyal to the topic, informative and locally relevant Part B: Ecotourism curriculum - How to use it?

7 4. COURSE EXAMPLES – ECOTOURISM BASICS (Finland)
1 hour informational lecture (technical information about how this course and tutoring will be carried out) Lecture sessions (1,5 hours per topic) Topic 1. Introduction to sustainable development and ecotourism Basic concepts and framework, characteristics, values, business examples. Ecotourism in the total framework of tourism business. History and development of ecotourism. Target market. Topic 2. The environmental impacts of tourism Topic 3. Ecotourism in practice Topic 1 other learning activities: Tasks 1-3: Write short essays on the following topics based on the lecture material, the suggested reading and your own experiences. 1)What is sustainable development? What are the main aspects to consider when aiming at sustainable development? Why should we adopt sustainable practices? 2) How is ecotourism different from ordinary nature tourism and sustainable tourism? Give 1 business example of all three. 3) What does triple-bottomline mean in ecotourism? Tasks 4-6: 1–2 group discussion where students present and discuss the results of tasks additional questions Part B: Ecotourism curriculum - How to use it?

8 4. COURSE EXAMPLES – ECOTOURISM BASICS (Finland)
Project (individual or small groups): Vision an ecotourism business venture for your own home region (does not have to be a fully realistic one). What is the main attraction? What kind of activities/products are being offered? How would the business take into account the three basic aspects characteristic to ecotourism? Max 5 pages. Seminar: All students present their project work to other students and discuss the outputs Group work 1-3: Work in groups of 3-4 people to map local potential and existing ecotourism business ideas. What are the challenges for ecotourism in this region? How could they be overcome? Present outcome to other groups and discuss findings. Other work 1: Find ecotourism related stories in the media and present 1 story to the group. Other work 2: Begin your learning diary by summing up what you have learned so far, and your comments and questions on Topic 1 activities. Test: Oral or written. COURSE EXAMPLES – (Bulgaria) Preservation and Respect of Cultural and Heritage Resources Course objectives: to familiarize participants with the risk management concept and its various applications in the field of cultural heritage to show a practical method of evaluating different types of risks and make them apply it to a case study in their own working and cultural context Course methodology: In its first part online, the course will address topics envisaged from 1 to 3 week The face-to face workshop in the 4th week will focus on the case study. After the workshop, the last distance-learning phase will allow participants to finalize their case-study report and present it to each other and their tutors During the distance-mentoring/online coaching, the required time for participation in the course is 10 hours per week At all stages of the learning, participants will be able to share their experience with colleagues They will have access to readings/resources/forums and to mentors and tutors who will help them through the process and to resolve challenges Part B: Ecotourism curriculum - How to use it?
