Welcome Parents! Ms. Gutierrez 1st Grade Class Rm: 3

2 School Hours: *Before Care: 7:00 am – 8:15 am (must register prior to first day of school). *Students not enrolled in before care can enter school at 7:50am for breakfast and 8:15am for teacher pickup *Dismissal is at 3:00pm *First Day of School: Dimissal will be in the classroom at 3:00 PM. *After Care 3:00pm – 6:30pm (must register prior to first day of school). *Students cannot be left alone if they are not registered in before/after care.

*Available on the school website Parent Portal Access Instructions *Instructions are on the school website. *Sign-Up for iMater Parent s on the website.

4 Absences and Tardies *Make sure your child is in class on time on a daily basis. *Students need to be in their seats by 8:30am. *Make sure when your child is absent, you send a note to excuse his/her absence. *5 consecutive absences REQUIRE a doctors note to be considered excused. *Students with an unexcused absence will not be allowed to make up work.

5 Classroom Procedures/Schedule:
*Morning Journal *Math *Science *Lunch 10:30-11:00 am *Reading *Writing *P.E. *Social Studies *Dismissal 3:00pm SPECIALS: *Students will have Art, PE, Music and Spanish on a weekly basis. Students will also have Recess daily. **Please have the necessary classroom supplies by Monday, August 28th.

6 Curriculum: Common Core
Reading/Writing *Students retell stories, including key details, understanding the moral/lesson of the story. *Students ask and answer questions about key details in the text. *Character/Setting/Events *Students use illustrations and details in a text to describe key ideas. *Students name a topic and supply facts about the topic. *Students provide some sense of closure. *Spelling/High-Frequency Words/Vocabulary *Reading/Language Arts interactive notebook *Weekly Assessments (starting January, students will be responsible for reading the stories on their own.

9 Home Learning: *Homework will be given on a daily basis.
*Students are responsible for copying their homework in their Agenda on a daily basis. *Students NEED to practice Spelling/Sight/Vocabulary Words on a DAILY basis! *i-Ready: Students will be require to complete atleast 45 minutes of Math and 45 minutes of Reading. **Please check the homework on the school site on a weekly basis for important information.

*Consequences *Unacceptable behavior will result in loss of privileges (field trips, class parties, recess time, etc.) *Check your child’s agenda daily for any teacher notes sent home.

12 Dress Code for cold days:
Students may wear a long sleeve shirt that matches the color of the uniform shirt that they are wearing that day. Ex: white long sleeve shirt with white uniform shirt Sweaters MUST be solid, navy blue *Students are NOT allowed to wear boots or Uggs on cold days, ONLY on Fridays, for Jean Day.

or uniform polo NO Jeans with rips BLUE jeans only NO Jeans that fit too big or low Any color sneakers NO open toe shoes or Crocs *ALL jeans MUST be ankle length Cost: $1.00 *NOT all Friday’s will be Jean Day, a announcement will be made prior to Jean Day.

School Spirit Shirts are MANDATORY for ALL students and chaperones attending school field trips! *First grade uses the Aqua colored shirt *Shirts are available for purchase for $10

15 Birthday Party Schedule
Wednesday, September 20 Wednesday, October 18 Wednesday, November 15 Wednesday, December 20 Wednesday, January 17 Wednesday, February 14 Wednesday, March 14 Wednesday, April 18 Wednesday, May 16 Wednesday, June 6 *If you would like to be a part of the birthday celebration, you MUST be cleared prior to the date. *Only ONE parent/guardian is allowed to participate.
