Finding percentages of amounts without a calculator is simple if we break the percentage down into 10% and 1% chunks.
Remember these rules:
To find 10% of a number, we divide the number by 10.
To find 1% of a number, we divide the number by 100.

Therefore 36% of 150 = = 54
150 ÷ 10 = 15
10% = 15

15 x 3 = 45, so 30% of 150 = 45

1% = 1.5
