Who vs. Whom

2 A Complete Sentence Has a subject (someone or something who is performing/ completing an action) Who is performing the action? Has a verb (an action) What is being done? Expresses a complete thought Does the sentence make sense?

3 A Sentence Fragment A sentence fragment does not do at least one of the following: Tell you who is performing the action Tell you what action is being performed Make sense

4 Who Who is the subject of a sentence
Who is the one who is performing the action Examples: Who lives here? I know who is coming tomorrow.

5 Whom Whom is the recipient of the action
Whom refers to the person who is being acted upon Examples: To whom did you write this letter? Whom will you see tomorrow? He is the one whom Traci hit with the ball.
