6 Maths one hour every day
This year Maths is being taught in class settings. This change has been made because research shows that it is more beneficial to all children and the majority of schools are now teaching this way. Lessons will be differentiated to meet the needs of all children and there will be plenty of stretch and support provided. Mrs C

14 How we assess Literacy ,,.

15 Year 4 = Stage 4… The new national curriculum sets out what pupils should be taught by the end of each year. This programme of study is more demanding, with a more ambitious expected standard which are ‘age related’ skills set out by the Government. We assess your child in many ways. It provides us with valuable information to analyse and review achievements and progress in learning against age related expected standards. Mrs C

16 How we assess Stage 4 is sub-divided into the following sub stages which indicate the progress they are making. Beginning Beginning + Developing Developing + Secure Exceeding Mrs C

17 Homework Minimum of 5 times weekly = reading for mins and recorded in the home school diary. Minimum of 5 times weekly = Times Tables practise, recorded in the diary Weekly = Spellings via spelling contract, recorded in the book Fortnightly = Mathletics online (set on Friday) Miss W

Miss J Spellings New spellings are given out every Monday Test the following Monday When do spellings start to come home? Next Monday (18th September) Dolphin Jellyfish Turtle

19 Year 4 Spelling Contract
You can decide which activities to complete. Choose the five spellings from the list that you find the trickiest. Try different spelling activities each week. Please complete all written activities in your spelling homework book. This will be checked by the class teacher every Monday. Your activities need to add up to 20 Points! Miss J
