2. New National Courses: design  National 1/2/3 – replaces Access 1/2/3  National 4 – replaces Standard Grade (General) and Intermediate 1. No examination (Pass or Fail)  National 5 – replaces Standard Grade (Credit) and Intermediate 2. External examination Grades A to D  Higher and Advanced Higher will be revised to reflect aims, values, principles of Curriculum for Excellence and provide good progression from National 4 and National 5  Courses will be 160 hours (as at present)

3. Units in all Courses:  Are more skills-based and less prescriptive  Are more flexible to encourage holistic assessment where appropriate  Provide more flexibility for teachers to exercise professional judgement
