2 Nile River The Nile River is the longest river in the world. It begins in the heart of Africa and flows north for 4,000 miles. It splits into two major branches.

5 Menes King Menes around 3100 B.C., united Upper and Lower Egypt into a single kingdom. He also created the first royal denasty.
